Anne Frank knew what she was talking about.
We’re so wrapped up in ourselves; work, school, play, life, that we forget other people exist. More tragically, we forget other people need us. During this Christmas season, I challenge YOU, just as I challenge myself, to make a difference in someone else’s life. Walking to and from M&T Bank Stadium and seeing men begging on the side of the road literally tears my heart in two. I can afford Ravens tickets, but I can’t afford to give these men money so they can EAT?! The $3 isn’t going to break my piggy bank- and it isn’t going to break yours either.
People are in need, and most of us have so much that we don’t even know what to do with it. Join me in giving of your money, resources, time, and emotion this upcoming month. I’m going to really try and be aggressive in my outreach and purposefully try to live my life in a way that benefits others and does good for the community. I would love it if everyone reading this would do the same. But if that’s too much to ask, how about just one act of kindness and grace. Donate canned food to a homeless shelter. Take $3 in cash the next time you know you’ll be in the city where homeless people live. Buy one of those homeless people a pair of gloves. Do something that makes a difference in this world. Then, tell me about it. Post a comment on my blog, find me on Twitter, get in touch. Then, pass it along and inspire someone else to do the same.
